Familiarisation Tours

A guided tour round an area to which you’re considering relocating – or are required to relocate through work – can be tremendously useful in helping you assimilate to an area, get your bearings and become acquainted with the local amenities, landmarks and services.

Tours around two or more areas can really help you compare options and focus on a preferred location.

A basic familiarisation tour will be included in any full property search, providing the area covered can be accommodated in the time available.

Otherwise, we generally provide half-day or full day tours but, again, we are totally flexible and will design a tour around your precise requirements.

Our tours will consist of a comfortable drive around the area or areas of your choice. We will agree the route with you in advance, and help you get your bearings by looking at local landmarks, places of interest, schools, medical facilities, places of worship, transport links, sports, arts and leisure facilities, entertainment, etc, and of course we will include any other criteria which you wish us to cover e.g. horse-riding/stables, vet’s practices, climbing or water-sports facilities – anything you can think of! You can stop off wherever you like on the tour, for as long as you like and as many times as you like.

We will also show you examples of the various housing options available, and provide a useful information pack to reinforce the details of what you have learned on the tour.

Accompanied Viewings

We view all potential properties before shortlisting ones which meet your brief. We then arrange for you to view these, and we can accompany you if required.

Our independent viewpoint means that we can give you an honest opinion and answer any questions objectively, in addition to the agents, owners or landlords view.

Area Report

If you have too little time to come on a familiarisation tour, or would rather take the tour from the comfort of your own home, then we can provide a comprehensive information pack on any area you are considering moving to.

These will contain a comprehensive description of the area concerned, along with

• maps,
• transport timetables & plans,
• information on schools,
• medical facilities
• all local amenities including arts & entertainment, sports facilities, shopping, post offices, libraries, etc
• local authority information, environmental data,
• a broad description of the housing market in the area.
• photographs, where possible*

Again, this service is flexible and we can include additional information on request.
*We may also be able to provide digital video area reports on DVD - please ask about this service.

Removals

Once a sale has been agreed, we can continue to offer valuable assistance in your relocation. Again, our local knowledge and network of contacts will be on hand to help you in every aspect of your move.

Trade Services

We can either obtain estimates from, or simply put you in contact with, local professionals and trades-people. We can provide lists of contacts in many areas such as removals, interior design, builders, decorators, architects, plumbers, joiners, electricians, roofers, as well as solicitors, insurance brokers or agents, accountants, financial advisors, surveyors and other professionals.

Liaison Services

We can assist you with all the nuisances of your move by arranging connection and/or transfer of all utilities/telephone/cable/satellite/internet services, arrange GP and dentist registration and even send out change of address cards for you!

If you are moving from outside the UK we can also help with bank, insurance, driving licence applications, and all those other mundane necessities.

We can introduce you to or brief recruitment agencies to assist other household members to find a new position.

We can arrange short-term accommodation if you find you need it for any reason, recommend and/or book hotel accommodation and pick you up from a railway station or airport when you visit the area.

If you are renting we can arrange for leases and inventories to be checked for you.

And what about the things you always forget on moving day? We can arrange a welcome pack of groceries to greet you on your arrival!

Finally, if a service you require is not listed, please ask anyway – we try to be as flexible as possible and if we can’t help, we probably know someone who can!
